Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. on January 15, 1908 as the first Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women. Since then, our sorority has flourished into a globally impactful organization of over 280,000 members, bound by the bonds of sisterhood and empowered by a commitment to servant-leadership that is both domestic and international in its scope. As Alpha Kappa Alpha has grown, it has maintained its focus in two key arenas: the lifelong personal and professional development of each of its members; and galvanizing its membership into an organization of respected power and influence, consistently at the forefront of effective advocacy and social change that results in equality for all citizens of the world. In fact, every single program must have a social impact and be connected to service, in line with our sorority’s mission to be of “Service to All Mankind.” We hope that you take the time to learn more about our wonderful sisterhood, and that you will visit our national website, or contact us if you have any questions.
