Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.

The Iota Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was founded at Cornell University on April 10, 1993, and expanded to Ithaca College in the Spring of 2008. Six strong women came together with a passion to serve the Latino community and join an organization that would provide a life-long sisterhood. The women of the Iota Chapter have vowed to uphold the motto of the sorority, Hasta la Muerte. Our passion to serve our community inspires us to provide personal and academic support to all women, foster leadership among women and create interactive programs that generate awareness of the Latino culture. The Chapter has never allowed for Latino and multicultural issues to be ignored. This was evident in their participation in the 1993 Day Hall Takeover and continues to show in their leadership roles on campus as members of organizations that uplift and support the Latino and Multicultural community.

My name is Angie Ortiz and I am the current chapter president of the Invincible Iota Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. My chapter was established to serve as a voice for all underrepresented women in the Cornell and the greater Ithaca community. Since joining this Hermandad, I have been able to create bonds with incredible women that have helped me both academically and professionally. Our members devote their time to displaying leadership on their respective campuses and staying involved in the community as much as possible. I encourage you all to learn about our amazing organization, goals, and ideals. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Angie | |
